Bruce’s TIP OF THE WEEK #87 of 156
Service: recognition of

WHILE AT Hillwood Country Club (Nashville, TN) I noticed a large framed photo of a well dressed distinguished-looking gentleman. Upon further inspection it was in recogntion of 50 years of service by Mr. William Johnson. To say the least, I was impressed not only with Mr. Johnson’s years of service but by the fact that Hillwood CC recognized him in this special lasting way.

I’VE BEEN TO a few other Clubs that have done the same. Having a retirement banquet and naming a room after a retired employee shows class; because class includes appreciation, recognition, compensation and even sometimes reconciliation.

Donald “Chief” Crump
September 1, 1934 - April 16, 2019

Don Crump

52 years servicing the members and guests of The Greenbrier.

My favorite and most impressive story is of Don seeing our future Governor, Gaston Caperton, come to The Greenbrier as a child throughout the years.  As such, when the then Governor Caperton would visit, he called Don, “Mr. Crump.”
